Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's life is one of football scholarships, family involvement and involvement in the community. First family he is the youngest of the nine children born to Lucious and Jessie Selmon raised on a farm at Eufala, Oklahoma. Two football. He is one of three brothers who participated in the football team of Oklahoma. All three made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award as well as the Lombardi award as the best lineman in the country. In the three years that Roy was a starter, Oklahoma won two National Championships. A third scholarship saw him named an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon earned a degree in Education. Lee Roy spent ten hours per week volunteering throughout his time at college. In Tampa the Buccaneers, he was a player for the Buccaneers for nine seasons before becoming an all-pro. Also, he began his career in the field of business. By 1988 he had become an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked on the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored his name in 1982, as one of the top 10 youths in the US. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch larger and weighing 256 pounds in college as player, commanded his team for the year 1975. In 1993, Roy joined the university of south Florida's sports department as its Director of Athletics as an associate. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988 the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1995, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded an award of the Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon, Jr. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor who made this presentation.
