Taylor
Taylor Swift was a rarity in the world of pop music: she was the only celebrity to have crossed from country into the mainstream and become a global pop culture icon. Swift shed country like it was a second layer, showing that she's possibly the smartest pop-singer/songwriter her generation. A person who has the ability to tap into the zeitgeist to make it personal and also be able to perform at the opposite. Swift's first hits, particularly her neo celebration of Tim McGraw, showed off her skills. The album from 2008 Fearless showcased a writer who was beginning to discover herself, and was able to draw a wide audience. Fearless was a huge success not only in the United States with six singles were certified platinum on the back of Top Ten hit songs Love Story and Belong with Me. But the album also enjoyed a great reception across the globe. Speak Now delivered almost two years later consolidated that success and moved Swift towards the top of fame. Her popularity only increased through her subsequent three albums - Red (2012) 1989 (2014), and Reputation (2017) Reputation (2017) and saw her move confidently into the realm of pop in which she was already a part. She stayed in the forefront of pop even when she dropped her signature style in her twin albums folklore & Evermore in the year 2020.
