Laura San Giacomo
Three episodes from the television series in 1987 featured San Giacomo for his first television appearance. Two of the most memorable appearances were in Crime Story in 1988 for the episode "Protected Witness" (Season 2 Episode 13) as Theresa Fassino, and in Miami Vice in 1989 for the episode "Leap of Faith" (Season 5 Episode 21) as Tania Lewis. The year before their marriage, Cameron Dye, her prospective husband, also was a guest on the Miami Vice episode. She had previously been a regular on All My Children, playing the character of Louisa Sanchez, a Latina common-law spouse of Mitch Beck, (Brian Fitzpatrick). Her appearance on the show threatened to sever his relationship with Hillary Martin (Carmen Thomas). However, San Giacomo was first acknowledged for her acting in Steven Soderbergh’s Sex videotape, Lies, and Sex (1989). This film marks her first appearance as an actor with credit (her role in the role of Sandy in the 1988 movie Miles from Home was not credited). [8] She was nominated in the Golden Globe Awards for her performance on the film, and received an award from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association New Generation Award. Cannes Film Festival's prestigious Grand Prize was awarded to the film named the Palme d'Or. In 1990, San Giacomo played the part of Julia Roberts's smart-talking roommate, Kit De Luca, in Pretty Woman. The blockbuster ended up producing $178 million in the box office.San Giacomo has been in films such as Quigley Down Under (1990), Vital Signs (1990), Under Suspicion (1991), Once Around (1991) as well as Where the Day Takes You (1992), Nina Takes a Lover (1994) and Suicide Kings (1997). Also, she was a part of Nadine Cross on the Stephen King TV miniseries The Stand opposite Rob Lowe The miniseries was featured on the cover of the May 7-13, 1994, issue of TV Guide. She continued to produce films through 1999.
